Originating in the 1760s in the French village of Jouy-en-Josas, toile means cloth in English, so toile de Jouy simply translates to cloth of Jouy. As beautiful today as it was in the 18th century, I have incorporated them into our collection by teaming them with contrasting cool khaki linen backing.
The inner is a cloud like Doona - 50% duck feather and 50% polycluster encased in a cotton Japara cover that is made here in Australia.
